About me
My name is Anthony Wilkinson. I am 19 years old. I live in Whyalla, South Australia. I am multilingual.
I am currently in my 3rd year of Bachelor of Education (Primary), and my 1st year of the Diploma of Language (Indonesian) at Charles Darwin University. Since 2009, I've became fascinated by languages and literacy. The way people talk. The way that one word in English, can mean two other words in another language. The way in which learning a second language influences and improves your understanding of your first language. That is why I undertook studies in Italian (6 years), French (3 years), German (1 Year), Spanish (1 Year), Afrikaans (1.5 years), Maltese (1.5 years), and now I have just started Indonesian. Literacy is all around us, and literacy varies not only internationally, but in our own backyard. The way the language is formed, or the way in which a person speaks, gives us the understanding of their linguistic skills and background, and it helps us develop ours further. I want to be able to teach children this. That literacy isn't just something we have to use, but something we can use. It is something that defines us, and tells us many things about other people, and ways of life. |
